Sword hands appeared for the first time in 1958. They were originally used in military watches, the Seamaster 300 Ref. 165.024 and were ordered from OMEGA by the M.O.D (Ministry of Defense).
They have the shape of an elongated pentagon resembling a sword but with a flat, defined base to avoid light reflection.
As a frogmen's watch, the sword hands are more functional and visible in depths.
Due to their military heritage, they became iconic and many brands today use them for their diver watch models.
